The report from the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and other groups finds that hundreds of people across the state are in solitary confinement on any given day and that stays can range from 10 days to more than 12 years.
But change may be on the horizon. The Illinois General Assembly is considering legislation that would restrict solitary confinement.
Reset learns more from two groups behind the report.
